Bringing the 80s to the Present

Love leather. I fell for this back zippered genuine leather skirt right that split sec i laid my eyes on it. 'Lakas maka 80's rockstar vibe sans the leather biker jacket. Definitely a no brainer! A basic 'tough' funky look with a feel of sexy. If you want vintage, then this one shall be on top list.

I paired the skirt with a top from a new fave store which i discovered a few months back called Jennyfer. Jennyfer is an international retail clothing brand from France. Jennyfer just recently joined the Philippine fashion bandwagon this year. (Isn't it nice that more international brands are coming to Manila?) The gold top is quite an attention grabber with its faux sequined fabric. I also love how i could fold the sleeves and play with its length. It easily fits right in with the cold season and perfect for the glam and glitz of the holiday. For a more luxe look, i wore a heeled low cut boots or ankle boots as some call it, to complete the look! With this, I am now ready to party!

Channeling the 60s

Not that I was born in the 60s...just that I have always been inspired by the design of the 60s. I have always wanted the clothes back then. Fashion in the 1960s were mainly daring and bare. Who wouldn't fall in love with the unbelievably super short length of those Twiggy dresses. Fumbled with a few of mom's sepia pic during her prime and believe me, those dresses she wore were just to die for. Awesomely rebellious. LOL.

I was fortunate to score this Twiggy inspired baby collared dress (although not as short as that of mom's), well complemented with this pair of subtly styled black boots with a punk rock vibe. Girlishness with angst! Just the coolest!

Are you inspired by the 60s?

Not Necessarily Blue

Do you dress up according to your mood? Do you wear your emotions on your sleeves? Are you nodding right there, right now? Then, you are most likely a "mood dresser."

Well, consciously or unconsciously, the color of the clothes i wear usually depends on my mood. When i wake up feeling happy, i tend to gravitate towards bright colours and accessorize. When at times, i get up feeling like im too lazy to do anything, i would most likely be seen wearing something dull. This is the moment when i feel like i dont actually want to be seen :)

We know that blue is the color of the sky and sea. Blue is often associated with depth and stability (ehem!). It also symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence (another ehem!), faith, truth and heaven. But what really is my emotional state when i wore these?
Can you tell? ♡

Something Borrowed

Dress in style without placing a dent on your budget. It's possible! It's called recycling, or more aptly, hand me down. I know what you're thinking but you're wrong. The clothes I am wearing on my post (particularly the top and shoes) aren't from my sister nor my mom's. I have been blessed by hand me downs from no less than my 10-year old son! Yup yup!

Whenever I go clothes shopping, I buy items that could go in transition from being his favorite to mine if I can. Choosing clothes which could go a long haul gives me more of my money's worth. Whenever possible, I buy shirts for him that are in color shade which will look good on both of us. The fit has never been a problem because Luis' big physique complements my current size which is leaning towards... you know LOL. His shoe size though becomes a problem at times. Although I can still walk in some of his shoes, I don't push it much especially when I look like a clown in them.

Black, White and Gray

I look forward to weekends not only because I get to spend more quality bonding with my kid, but also because I get to wear anything I want without restrictions nor fear of violating the so called office decorum. (Although at times I find my name on the list of violators.)

This is supposed to be a dressdown outfit but i thought, why not take it a notch higher by pairing my black high waisted shorts with a blazer. Its not too much nor over the top, but certainly one of a turner.

Fashionably Distressed

I'm totally digging this pair of light distressed jeans. Distressed, destroyed or ripped jeans have actually been around for quite some time already but are now back in the limelight. While distressed refers to things intentionally unkempt and unglamourized, distressed jeans do not mean it can't lend itself to a polished look. Not to the fashion conscious! Not to us, right? LOL
While distressed is fashion with a worn out rugged look, one could still manage to look uber-chic when a subtly ripped jeans is paired with a crisp white oversized (or not) blazer, a sheer white top, and a pair of white stilettos.
You may want to work your creativity and wild imagination and pair your ripped jeans instead with a silky top or a sporty crop top, a sexy black pumps or a classic converse, a chained bag for a more feminine look or a rugged back pack, hair may be up or down, and of course, lashings of attitude :)

Distressed jeans are indeed a welcome return. No need to buy those expensive ones now on window displays at the moment. Your old pair of jeans (skinny or not) could be just the one you need. Create your own DIY ripped jeans based on your personal choice. You may decide on the extent of the “rips”. There are those which are savagely ripped, that is, if you want to put much (your legs out) on display. Some, not as much or just subtly, getting the same look and still managing to put her best foot forward.

Get the picture of effortless cool... so edgy... the very now... the skinny distressed jeans... get it while it lasts.

Like ABCs and 123s

Do you remember your ABCs and 123s in primary school? Of course, you do! They form and relate to the most important part of everything. These are the fundamentals, essentials, and foundation of a subject, right? Just like the food pyramid, if you apply its principles to what you put in your closet and load up on your basics, you will have a well-balanced wardrobe. Thus, making getting dressed easy or without wailing. LOL.

Exactly like this outfit... the most essential chambray / denim shirt (whatever you feel like calling it since it's only when you flip the fabric and take a look at the underside that you will actually know the difference), and the most versatile pair of white well-fitted jeans.

A chambray / denim top just like this one, thinking of it as a neutral, which it basically is, certainly would be good paired with anything under the sun, from a pair of pants, to a pair of shorts and even a skirt. It could also be your swimsuit cover-up! It could be styled in so many different ways. However you want to wear it, tucked it in or untucked, self-tie it, tone down a blazer with it, use it as a cardigan over a dress, or with a leopard scarf, its gonna be a super cute look without the effort.

Needless to say, whatever you pair your white jeans with will definitely make you look a-ok! A top in any color will look amazing with white jeans. To keep it from being too bland, add bold accessories. Whatever your creative mind could think of, you will surely win a thumbs up match made in heaven.

If you need to satisfy and streamline your daily dressing requirements, invest in these fashion basics and you’ll never be at a loss for what to wear whenever the occasion calls for something special. With these wardrobe essentials on hand, you’ll always know what to reach for.

Just like a Kid in a Jumper

Let's elevate street fashion with this cutie jumper I scored from Zara. I was lucky I got the last piece in my size. It was actually the one the mannequin display had on. I didn't mind. A piece like this should not be passed on. This jumper looks so casual and ragged and yet, will make you look great with exactly zero effort!

After the onesies (or the outfit that makes you pee your pants.. haha) which our moms always let us wear back when we were infants and toddlers, I cant believe I got to wear something like it again. I felt like a kid when I wore this (all it takes is mindsetting guys.. haha). Some people call the jumpers infant bodysuits. For us adults, we call this relax-fitting casual jumpsuits. Whatever it's called, I surely think its worth another try.

YSM Summer Recital 2014

For luis, the stage is like a playground where he could move freely and have fun. He has long overcame his stage fright, what with those contests and performances he's done. I am always happy to see him on stage and see how he has grown up to a big boy who's actually happy to be performing.

Yamaha School of Music staged its Summer Recital 2014 on June 1 at Barrington Place. It was another proud mommy moment for me as Luis' rendition of My Lady by HJ Ellis on classical guitar was well applauded. His confidence showed as he was moving his head and shoulders to the beat of the song. I was blushing! Lolo and lola were so proud as usual. We won't be dubbed the fanatic trio for nothing. LOL. Here goes the memory shots of that PMM!

My mommy cup runneth over with all the proud mommy moments still to come...

The Story of Our Summer

Building family memories has been a tradition to us. It doesn't necessarily have to be anything expensive or complicated, but it should always be fun and memorable. Just like our family's annual summer vacation this year, we decided to drive up North to Bakasyunan Resort in Iba, Zambales. According to my brother, the place is 375 kms away from where we live. Good thing the kids do not mind long drives. In fact, they love it so much. The farther the car trips, the better for them. They also look forward to stop-overs and the games we come up with while in the car. This year was a "name the commercial" and "name the movie" guessing game. It was so much fun! Let me share with you the story of our wonderful adventure and merry making this summer through the following pictures...

Get started with your own story and keep your family memories alive! Enjoy the rest of summer!
